Ian Holton
British Precast
Sector Sustainability

Ian joined the Engineering Doctorate programme at Loughborough University in October 2004 to work on the joint research project with British Precast to develop a sustainability strategy for the precast concrete sector. Prior to this he worked in the Centre for Concrete Construction at BRE, leading their work on self-compacting concrete, and contributing to their work on the thaumasite form of sulfate attack and e-tagging of concrete products.

Ian Abley
MMA
Better Built in Masonry

Ian was sponsored to research and develop masonry solutions for the Modern Masonry Alliance in October 2006. He had worked as a senior technical architect in London, often on site, and notably for YRM architects, Whitby Bird Façade Engineers, EPR Architects, and Hamilton Associates. Prior to meeting his wife Kate in London in 1997, and their having two boys, Ian had worked extensively in the North East, detailing the production phases of architectural projects. In 2000, frustrated by the institutional obstacles raised against the production of more and better housing in Britain, he and Kate formed the pro-development website www.audacity.org
