Health and Safety Awards

The Concrete Targets 2010 (CT2010) scheme for accident reduction was first launched in 2001 in response to the Government’s initiative ‘Revitalising Health and Safety’. It is actively promoted with our annual awards and is highly regarded by the HSE as a benchmark programme. An industry-wide programme, it is working towards a final target of zero accidents, zero injuries and zero lost time.

The British Precast Annual Health and Safety Award for 2008 was awarded to Aggregate Industries for its Moving Goods Safely initiative.

The HSE developed guidance sheets based on our 1999/2000 Award Scheme on the subject of manual handling, and these are published on the HSE website. It is now planned to develop similar guidance sheets based on successive years’ award scheme entries.
